This paper presents a novel system and method for saving battery life by master mobile station network search. The savings in battery life is achieved by preventing the system from constantly searching for available network(s). The protocol requires a mobile station to constantly search and acquire Public Land Mobile Network, other than Home Public Land Mobile Network. This search consumes battery...
Recent mobile handhelds, e.g., Smart-phone, can be charged wirelessly using the traditional wireless communication technologies. In particular, Bluetooth with a charging circuit enables a short-range wireless charging of a mobile handheld. This paper presents an overview of power charging structures and proposes a new charging circuit based on Schottky diode with a real commercial film-type antenna...
This paper provides insight into the ramifications of battery exhaustion Denial of Service (DoS) attacks on battery-powered mobile devices. Several IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.15.1 Bluetooth, and blended attacks are studied to understand their effects on device battery lifetimes. In the worst case, DoS attacks against mobile devices were found to accelerate battery depletion as much as 18.5%. Also...
