This paper presents a new deployment formulation in order to improve coverage in Sensor Networks. Sensor deployment is an important issue in designing sensor networks. This paper studies the geometric properties of voronoi diagram, addressing a divide-and-conquers deployment protocol in an area of interest. This novel methodology can deploy homogeneous sensor while heterogeneous sensor in whole area...
In the past few years wireless sensor networks have received a greater interest in application such as disaster management, border protection, combat field reconnaissance and security surveillance. Sensor nodes are expected to operate autonomously in unattended environments and potentially in large numbers. WSNs cannot be deployed manually in a hostile or harsh environment. Thus, WSNs can be formed...
This paper describes a prototype of a wireless sensor network developed for tracking pilgrims in the Holy areas during Hajj (Pilgrimage). A delay tolerant network principle is used. Energy efficiency, robustness, and reliability are the key factors for the developed system. Every pilgrim will be given a mobile sensor unit that includes a GPS unit, a Microcontroller, antennas and a battery. A network...
In order to solve the problem that program-code of the sensor node in wireless sensor network was difficult to upgrade, the application layer protocol OTA-WSN was presented. With reference to the OTA Technology applied in mobile network, this paper defined the functions of each communication sector in the protocol, including package's format of the application layer packages and data transfer protocol...
In this paper, a novel platform of coal mine security monitoring and alarming system is proposed by taking advantage of wireless sensor network (WSN) technology and Intel Celeron embedded processor GENE-8310. Meanwhile, an improved S-MAC protocol is proposed. The simulation shows that it can provide better performance in both throughput and energy efficiency.
We introduce a distributed grid-based scheduling access scheme that mitigates high data loss in data intensive sensor networks. Our approach alleviates transmission collisions by applying virtual grids and adopting Latin Squares Characteristic to time slot assignments. We demonstrate that our technique efficiently handles sensor mobility with acceptable data loss and low overhead.
In this paper we describe the recent development of a wireless sensor network to monitor human motion and stream relevant events over the network. The events are locally generated based on accelerometer, magnetometer and gyroscope data, taken by a sensor node, which is worn by a person. A reduced radio transmission range enables implicit coarse- grain localization. To minimize the number of radio...
Sink mobility has become an increasingly important requirement of various sensor network applications. Handling such mobile sink conditions brings new challenges to large-scale sensor networking. This investigation proposed a hybrid-structure routing protocol (HSRP) that combines the benefits of grid-based and cluster-based structures. Grid-based structure is designed to solve the cluster head selection...
