Farmland monitoring is of great significance in precision agriculture. In this paper, we design a wireless sensor network to monitor farmland information, including air temperature and humidity, light intensity, soil moisture, soil PH value, and the growth of crops. We carry out an experiment in the cornfield of Hongzehu farm. It shows that the monitoring system is effective.
This paper is to devise the application model of wireless sensor networks in order to increase effectiveness of management system in exhibition. The networks combine ubiquitous sensor networks technology and the digital archives of the exhibits. Its purposes are to implement the automatic and accurate control of physical conditions of the objects such as location, temperature, and humidity changes...
There is a growing interest in using wireless sensor networks for security monitoring in the underground coal mines. In such applications, the sensor nodes are deployed to detect interested events, e.g., the density of certain gas at some locations is higher than the predefined threshold. These events are then reported to the base station outside. Using conventional multi-hop routing for data reporting,...
The objective of the Seoul ubiquitous (smart) city project was to find a method to measure a temperature, a humidity or a noise level in the urban areas. But the problem was that we would need to install a large number of sensors over a broad area and each sensor must be connected to the center-server through wired or wireless network. To solve this problem, we created the MSU (Moving Sensor Unit)...
Sink mobility has become an increasingly important requirement of various sensor network applications. Handling such mobile sink conditions brings new challenges to large-scale sensor networking. This investigation proposed a hybrid-structure routing protocol (HSRP) that combines the benefits of grid-based and cluster-based structures. Grid-based structure is designed to solve the cluster head selection...
