This paper addresses the optimization of resource allocation based on Decode and Forward (DF) or Amplify and Forward (AF) relaying techniques for packet access Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) networks. A power allocation quasi-optimal solution with a low complexity has been proposed for the two forwarding techniques. To illustrate theirs performances, a selection of numerical...
Careful management of inter-cell interference is important in OFDMA based systems such as LTE. In this paper, we study an uplink ICIC (Inter-cell Interference Coordination) mechanism, which fully utilizes the flexibility of frequency selective scheduling and rate adaptation, while dynamically limiting the interference experienced by the neighboring cells. This technique can be seen as an extension...
Bit-Power Loading (BPL) algorithms are proposed based on Effective SINR Mapping (ESM) techniques. The ESM techniques used are the Exponential ESM (EESM) as well as the Mean Mutual Information per Bit (MMIB). The algorithms are based on proper usage and modifications of algorithms already proposed in the literature, applied to ESM compatible link-level performance models. The performance gain when...
We propose a cross-layer strategy that jointly optimizes user scheduling and resource allocation for adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) based orthogonal frequency multiple access (OFDMA). The objective of this paper is to maximize the system throughput as a function of the bit error rate (BER) and the spectral efficiency based on selected modulation and coding schemes (MCSs). The proposed optimal...
Opportunistic scheduling for wireless network coding (OWNC) combines the strategies of opportunistic scheduling and network coding. This paper applies two variants of OWNC on a two-user OFDMA system. Symbol-based OWNC decides a strategy from sum rate of the whole OFDM symbol. Subcarrier-based OWNC decides a strategy from the capacity on a subcarrier level. Novel algorithms are derived for power allocation...
In this work, we analyze the performance of a multi-user sectored MIMO/OFDMA system under the limited feedback constraint. Dynamic radio resource management methods are used to a reuse-one sectorized cell in order to reduce the cross-sector interference. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy reduces the co-channel interference and maintain at the same time high spectral efficiency.
In this work we consider the allocation of buffer space to data streams sharing a common high-speed wireless transmitter. As an example, we focus on an OFDMA-based downlink system scenario. Scheduling for maximum throughput has been extensively studied in the literature. However, the practically interesting case of a finite buffer has not been sufficiently addressed before. Especially in the case...
In this paper we consider the Downlink Beamforming (DLBF) and resource allocation problem in MIMO-OFDMA systems. We consider the sum-power minimization or margin adaptive problem. This is a variable Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR), non-convex optimization problem and many aspects of this problem are not well understood. By using uplink downlink duality we first obtain the expression...
