Aiming at the problem about MIMO radar arrays, this paper analylizes the problem by the probability of detection. Some detection models are deduced, and a simulation flow is designed. Simulations are carried out based on different system configrations, and an optimization suggestion is obtained about antenna element numbers of long baseline MIMO radar.
This paper is given in tutorial form using a simple explanation starting from basics of phased arrays and how they work. Physical insight into MIMO is then given. No heavy math used. It has been shown in the literature that MIMO thin/full array radars can provide orders of magnitude better resolution and accuracy than conventional radars. The thin/full array consisted of two collocated parallel linear...
Recently, dual-function radar-communication systems in which the radar platform and resources are used for communication signal embedding have emerged as means to alleviate spectrum congestion and ease competition over frequency bandwidth. In this paper, we introduce a new technique for information embedding specific to multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) radar. We exploit the fact that in a MIMO...
We analyse an iterative adaptive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radar receiver in the situation where a K L-variate adaptive transmit-receive beamformer is structured as the Kronecker product of a K-variate (transmit) and an L-variate (receive) beamformer. We present results for the special case of two clutter propagation modes separated in elevation angle, where the direction-of-departure...
Optimum antenna placement is considered for MIMO radar performing velocity estimation. A general optimization strategy for velocity estimation using MIMO radar is derived based on the Cramer-Rao bound analysis. Optimal antenna placement is investigated. We show that when orthogonal signals are adopted for transmission, symmetrically placing the transmit antennas as well as the receive antennas achieves...
Compared to traditional phased-array radar, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar can offer better parameter identifiability and higher resolution, enable the direct applicability of adaptive techniques for effective interference and jamming suppression, and allow for much flexibility for transmit beampattern design and waveform optimization. Reaping the full benefit of the superior performance...
