Survivability is the key topic in the networks. This paper studies the shared-protection based on SRLG, and presents two algorithms. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithms is demonstrated by simulation. Compared with other algorithms; the two algorithms can reduce the blocking probability and improve network performance greatly.
This paper introduces a novel traffic grooming algorithm for the connection establishment of deadline-driven requests in elastic optical networks, named Elastic Batch Grooming Algorithm. The algorithm grooms batches of requests to establish lightpaths with diverse bandwidth demands with deadline requirements. Results show that the algorithm significantly reduces the blocking ratio and the number of...
As multi-domain elastic optical networks (EONs) can enhance network scalability, extend service reach, and accommodate the inter-operability issues, it is very relevant to consider them in practical network operations. In this work, we study the problem of how to achieve energy-aware service provisioning in a multi-domain EON, where the optoelectronic regenerators only exist in border nodes. We consider...
The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology provides an opportunity for efficient resource utilization in optical networks. It allows allocation of multiple sub-carriers to meet traffic demands of varying size. Utilizing OFDM technology, a spectrum efficient and scalable optical transport network called SLICE was proposed recently. The SLICE architecture enables sub-wavelength,...
We present several dynamic wavelength allocation algorithms for automatic deployment of Virtual Optical Network (VON) through the usage of a Resource Broker which dynamically configures and deploys independent instances of virtual GMPLS-controlled WSONs. The proposed VON Resource Broker consists of four building blocks: Resource Manager, VON Controller, Resource Allocator and Resource Configurator...
We develop a novel network protection scheme that guarantees a minimum grade of service upon a link failure by utilizing backup capacity sharing between demands. Our scheme achieves up to 83% reductions in protection resources.
In this paper, we consider link-and-node failure recovery in dynamic multicast traffic in WDM networks. We extend the node protection concept of the p-cycle approach to achieve more efficient resource utilization. Then, we propose a novel algorithm that integrates our concept for the node protection, named node-and-link protecting p-cycle based algorithm (NPC). We also propose a second algorithm,...
