A broadband microstrip dipole antenna loaded with shorted pin is experimentally presented in the paper. The bandwidth of the antenna has increased from 70 MHz (3.5% bandwidth in 2 GHz) to 190 MHz (9.5% bandwidth in 2 GHz) by using a shorted pin. With a vertical gain of 2.7 dB and front-back gain of more than 5 dB, this broadband microstrip dipole antenna has features desirable in array application...
In this paper, an improved evolutionary algorithm has been successfully applied to broadband matching network design for antennas. Evolutionary algorithm (EA) and simulated annealing (SA) have been combined to enhance the search efficiency, which can avoid both the slow convergence of EA and the dependence on the initial parameters of SA. Considering the impedance bandwidth and power available from...
In this paper, the planar wideband monopole antenna operated 30 MHz to 2000 MHz is proposed. The proposed antenna is folded to reduce the size and uses the tapered resistively loadings for the wideband operation. In design process, the magnitude of the resistively loadings are optimized. In addition, the dimension of the antenna is optimized using the parametric studies. Finally, the simulated and...
In this study we have presented a new technique for wideband impedance-matching using a lumped circuit for relatively short non-resonant dipoles or monopoles. The belief is that one simple fixed-topology network can be used to perform wideband impedance matching for a variety of dipole-like antennas, thereby simplifying the matching process. The particular circuit suggested in the present paper includes...
Theoretical investigations of a gap-coupled stacked microstrip antenna is presented using equivalent circuit concept. It is found that the antenna operates with dual frequency band characteristics with resonances at 4.76 GHz and 6.79 GHz. The dual nature of the antenna is realized by adding coplanar U-shaped parasitic elements around the radiating edges of the fed patch and stacking a rectangular...
In this paper, the simulation of three monopole with G type structure is proposed consisting of one closed rectangular wire loop and one open rectangular wire loop with maximum horizontal and vertical dimensions approximately of L1 = L2 = L3 =.25lambda, h=202lambda, w = .1834lambda, l =.3487lambda and having wire radius of 2 mm. Each of the structure is analyzed on perfect ground and on CUBESAT and...
In this work we present the advantages of passive and active matching to lower the operational frequency of VHF/UHF antennas. A multi-segment passive matching circuit is designed via formal optimization to improve the lower frequency of a broadband planar dipole by 25%. Implementation of active networks shows that an impressive matched behavior is also possible. Measurements and simulations are presented.
