The paper focuses on two groups of parasitic Hymenoptera: (primary) parasitoids and hyperparasitoids of aphids. The author summarizes also the studies on parasitoids of different aphid species, including pests, in different seminatural habitats and agrocoenoses. At the end of the article the author gives new ideas, as well as proposals and perspectives of future investigations.
Insect taxa regulating the abundance of aphids (Homoptera, Aphidodea), and their significance, are presented. Methods of evaluation of the degree of parasitization of aphids by various taxa of parasitoid insects, described in literature, are critically reviewed; an attempt is made at estimating particular methods.
