The article substantiates the use of the resistance-acoustic method in problems of non-destructive testing of mechanical stresses or defects in structures of metals and alloys in natural and technical systems. The possibilities of the use of the proposed method for the potential monitored facilities were analyzed, to which the strict requirements for operational security are imposed (bearing reinforced...
Voltage source, pulse width modulated (PWM) drive system finds many industrial applications such as pumps, fans, compressors and other equipment, with the benefit of both productivity improvement and greater energy efficiency. However, medium and high voltage PWM motors suffer from premature insulation ageing. Several types of ageing processes in medium and high-voltage stator windings has been identified...
Shape Memory Alloy actuators are microactuators that are known for their high actuation-force and -strain. Limiting the application of Shape Memory Alloy actuators is the lack of suitable control algorithms that can deal with the highly non-linear dynamics of the actuator. The latter suffers from hysteresis and is characterized by the changing crystallographic structure of Shape Memory Alloy. In this...
Lifetime of multi-layer graphene interconnects under constant current stress is studied for the first time. Under a stress current density of 20MA/cm2 at 250°C exposed to air, Mean-Time-To-Fail (MTTF) of uncapped CVD graphene wire is about 6 hours. It is shown that lifetime is mainly limited by defect formation due to graphene oxidation.
Chemical vapor deposited (CVD) Ruthenium liners and DirectSeedTM (DS) copper were used with advanced Electrofill processes to provide lower resistance wiring compared to results using CVD Ru and conventional physical vapor deposited (PVD) Cu seed for back end of line (BEOL) structures. Different annealing temperatures and simulated BEOL thermal stress builds were used to show the difference in resistance...
Cable accessories for medium- and high voltage applications contain field grading and field zoning parts or layers. These parts often consist of electrically conductive modified silicone elastomers. The electrical conductivity is achieved by using selected and long-term tested carbon blacks. Conductive layers and parts are used to provide safety against exposure, inner shielding and an electrical...
Thin films of Ga2O3-In2O3 are obtained by magnetron deposition with further thermal oxidation. Dependences of resistance variation on time under strain and on strain value are observed. The model for explaining the obtained results is developed. It is based on the barrier conductivity of polycrystalline oxide semiconductor materials.
The paper studies the drought resistance and performance of five ground covers (Sedumlineare, Sedumlineare dasiaPu Fupsila, Sedumelatinoides, Zephyranthescandida, Ophiopogonjaponicus) under drought-stress through the testing of artificial climatic cabinet. We choose soil moisture content, relative water content of leaves, relative electric conductivity, chlorophyll, SOD, malondialdehyde (MDA),...
A novel stress-sensitive nanocomposite that can be used as flexible force sensors with tailored sensitivity was fabricated. The nanocomposite consists of MWNTs as conductive filler and SBS as polymer matrix. Some electrical and mechanical properties of MWNT/SBS films were measured. A typical percolation phenomenon was observed with the MWNT/SBS composites. The elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio of...
This paper deals with the connection network in isotropically conductive adhesives (ICAs). The reader will learn about conductive network creation, tunneling effect, possible ways of modeling the conductive network and differences between failures within soldered joints and electrically conductive adhesive joints. This article compares theoretical models with real measurement and properties of the...
ldquoDevelopment for advanced thermoelectric conversion systemsrdquo supported by the new energy and industrial technology development organization (NEDO) has been successfully completed as one of the Japanese national energy conservation projects. Three types of the cascaded thermoelectric modules operating up to 850 K in high electrode temperature and two types of Bi-Te thermoelectric modules operating...
Deformation of Bi2Te3-based materials was performed. The source disks with nominal compositions of (Bi0.25Sb0.75)2Te3, (Bi0.25Sb0.75)2(Te0.95Se0.05)3 and (Bi0.90Sb0.10)2(Te0.95Se0.05)3 were cut from the ingots grown by the vertical Bridgman method (VBM). The disks were deformed by either cold press (CP) or pressure current heating (PCH). The crystal structures of the deformed materials were identified...
For a better understanding of the basic mechanisms of electrical treeing in polymer insulations the dependence of the DC-conductivity of polyethylene (with and without additives) on temperature and field strength was examined. Here we found that all additives, and especially acetophenone which is a favorite additive against treeing, substantially increase the conductivity.
