Vertical distribution of species richness of various groups of organisms within trees is still insufficiently understood. The reason for this are, among others, the difficulties in accessing standing trees. The aim of the study was to determine the differentiation of species richness of fungi, lichens and lichenicolous fungi and bryophyte of three tree species (oak, birch and pine) within windthrow...
The review focuses on use of airborne hyperspectral imagery in forest species classification. Studies mentioned in the review concern hyperspectral image classification with use of various methods. Only research, where study area is located in Europe or North America were selected. Articles were reviewed with respect to used pre−processing methods, methods of feature selection or feature extraction,...
The aim of this study was to characterize the texture of a primeval forest composed of Fagus sylvatica (L.), Abies alba (Mill.) and Picea abies ((L.) H. Karst). Empirical data were collected in the Babia Góra National Park (southern Poland) in the stand being under strict protection since 1934. 259 circular plots with a radius of 7.0 m and an area of 154 m2 each were established in nodes of 20×20...
Article presents the assessment of growth and survival of silver fir seedlings planted under stand canopies constituted by common beech, European larch, Norway spruce, Scots pine and silver birch. Measurements were carried out in Karkonoski National Park (SW Poland) in 2001 and 2011. The tallest trees were grow− ing under the canopy of larch both in 2001 and 2011.
A study of the insects inhabiting of cones of Norway spruce Picea abies (L.) Karst. in the Gorce National Park was conducted during 1998-2000. As a result of breeding and analyses of the cones from 180 trees at various altitudes above sea level, 17,803 specimens of cono- and seminiphagous insects and their parasitoids were collected. The insects belonging to 34 species from 5 orders. Coenotic groups...
