MWS is a total power radiometer that has been selected by ESA as part of the MetOp-SG programme, with Airbus Defence and Space Ltd, chosen as the instrument prime contractor. MWS measures the brightness temperature at various altitudes and delivers calibrated and geo-located atmospheric temperature and water-vapour sounding data, in all weather and illumination conditions. MWS is thus an essential...
This paper introduces the research and application process of a intelligent measuring instrument used to measure the water temperature difference in blast furnace cooling system. The operation principle, the main design breakthrough point, instrument calibration and the experiment application problems are mainly described. The results show that the Instrument is particularly suitable for open-circuit...
The potential of artificial neural network (ANN) as a way for the nondestructive variety discrimination of fragrant mushrooms was evaluated. First, the visual and near infrared spectral data were analyzed by principal components analysis (PCA) for space clustering. The principal components (PCs) containing the main information of original spectra were picked out as the inputs of BP-ANN with three...
We describe the design and implementation of an automated calibration system for the thermocouple/voltage modules from an automotive data-acquisition system. The automated calibration system tests and calibrates sixteen thermocouple/voltage signal-conditioning cards, with a combined total of 320 data channels, over the data-acquisition systempsilas operating range from -40degF through +160degF. The...
We report the small-range strain characterization of anisotropic fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) written by high-intensity femtosecond UV pulses. The FBGs are characterized with applied strain of 0-300 muepsiv using a high-speed Czerny-Turner spectrometer. The strain response slope is comparable to typical FBGs.
