Discharge Characteristic of external insulation is significantly influenced by Humidity. Most researches concern on low humidity condition. Discharge tests of air gap are carried out in the artificial climatic chamber whose humidity could be adjusted conveniently. The relation between humidity (especially for high humidity) and discharge voltage is studied in this paper. It is shown that the discharge...
Internal and surface partial discharges in HVDC apparatus are investigated in this paper focusing on their dependence on humidity and temperature. The experimental observations show that environmental conditions play an important role in the discharge behavior under HVDC. A preliminary effort has been made to explain these phenomena resorting to space charge analysis.
Subsea installations on the sea bed at great depth require insulation materials with high reliability. Failures of such installations introduce difficult maintenance and high costs. This involves the need of reliable (insulation) materials and testing of such. The purpose of our activity is to build a test facility that can test both well-known and new insulation material samples as well as high voltage...
