Recent experimental results for the sensitivity of aperture arrays at room temperature show 40 K array noise temperatures over the frequency range from 1000 MHz to 1500 MHz. Further reduction of array noise temperature is important to comply with the SKA sensitivity requirements at affordable cost. Furthermore the frequency range should be extended to a lowest frequency of 500 MHz, in order to meet...
This paper discusses low noise room temperature LNAs with application in the SKA-mid frequency range between 400 MHz and 1500 MHz, using recently obtained measured noise temperatures close to 20 K. It also presents and compares results for measured minimum transistor noise temperatures at room temperature, with values below 10 K.
We present performance measurements of Nb-Al2O3-Nb (SIS) mixers on Si-membranes for radio frequencies (280-380 GHz) with an IF band from 4 to 12 GHz. We use beamlead technology to mount the devices in waveguide mixerblocks. These mixers will be used in a 7 pixel focal plane array for astronomy.
Tunable diode laser spectroscopy (TDLS) can only be successfully implemented if a number of system characterization procedures and critical parameter measurements can be made accurately. These include: application of a wavelength/frequency scale to the signals recovered in time; measurement of the frequency dither applied to the laser; measurement of the relative phase between the laser power modulation...
