Pigs of the Duroc breed were for the first time brought to Poland in 1979. The paper presents some usability features and the results of experiments concering the breed in question, conducted in Poland up to 1996. Using boars of the Duroc breed for production of fattening pigs in Poland, as a results of two-, three- and four-race crossing, seems fully advisable.
The respective investigations concerned the growth of ewe- and ram-lambs originating from the third generation of synthetically bred meat-type lines of sheep.
