We present a reconfigurable dragonfly architecture for High-Performance-Computing (HPC) systems leveraging optical-circuit-switching. An SDN control plane monitors network traffic characteristics and optimizes the connectivity. Software-controlled reconfiguration of the optically interconnected topology is experimentally demonstrated.
Recent years have seen a trend in network and service infrastructures adopting software networking paradigms. Traditional hardware, such as servers, network equipment and middleboxes, are evolving towards flexible equivalent software technologies: namely virtualized servers, routers and network functions, respectively. At this stage, such Software-Defined Infrastructures (SDI) are mixing traditional...
SDN and NFV are two paradigms that introduce unseen flexibility in telecom networks. Where previously telecom services were provided by dedicated hardware and associated (vendor-specific) protocols, SDN enables to control telecom networks through specialized software running on controllers. NFV enables highly optimized packet-processing network functions to run on generic/multi-purpose hardware such...
Under technological advancement, technology allows human life to be more convenient and safer. This study used LabView as the system development software and the computer on the server side, to develop an intelligent distributed monitoring system for monitoring household electronic appliances. Besides controlling the server-end, network and GSM system were used to construct remote control and monitoring...
Energy efficiency in buildings is one of the promising fields of application of wireless sensor networks. Simple affordable sensors can be used to monitor the power consumption of appliances in buildings to implement smart algorithms in order to conserve energy. The ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking project eDIANA (Embedded Systems for Energy Efficient Buildings) funded by the European Commission aims to...
In this paper, a group policy based automatic control architecture is presented for the management of virtual private network (VPN). This network architecture splits the management view into parallel hierarchies. The architecture builds its security policy on resource groups. By utilizing a centralized policy server, the procedures for policy translating, distributing and monitoring are automatically...
