Generally, impulse noise filtering schemes consider all pixels within a large neighborhood. However, the estimate from all pixels within the neighborhood may not be accurate. Moreover, large window may remove edges and fine details. In contrast to this approach, we propose iterative impulse noise removal scheme that emphasizes on few noise-free pixels within a small neighborhood. This iterative process...
We introduce a new anisotropic diffusion based approach for image filtering and enhancement. The main novelty of our method consists in considering a modulo 2?? based definition of the diffusion axis along the main directions of the processed image. Such an asymmetric formulation of the filter induces better junction and corner preservation properties coupled with a good noise removal capacity.
Aiming at the difficulty of choosing filtering parameters of Non-Local Means (NLM) denoising algorithm for Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) projection images, an adaptive NLM denoising algorithm is proposed. First, a simplified noise estimation method based on sub-block division is proposed to replace the approach of designating the background region, which can adaptively identify the background...
Intensity inhomogeneity or intensity non-uniformity (INU) is an undesired phenomenon that represents the main obstacle for MR image segmentation and registration methods. Various techniques have been proposed to eliminate or compensate the INU, most of which are embedded into clustering algorithms. This paper proposes a hybrid C-means clustering approach to replace the FCM algorithm found in several...
It is difficult to filter an image while protecting its detail. In this paper, a novel filter is proposed for detail preserving restoration of images. Corrupted pixels are detected by a multi-scale way. For the corrupted pixels, we use a kind of four direction interleaved interpolation value to replace their value. The performance of the proposed operator is tested for different test images corrupted...
