This paper reviews system and detection conditions which lead to an improvement of the performance of coherent few-mode fiber transmission systems impaired by mode-dependent loss.
The required equalizer complexity for GI-MMF (graded index multi-mode fiber) transmitting 15 spatial modes is numerically calculated with different bend radius in 112 Gb/s DP-QPSK transmission.
Information capacity of a group delay spread minimized MMF carrying 15 spatial modes is calculated taking into account limited inter mode group coupling of statistical fiber bends and their attenuation of higher order modes.
By using cascaded Wavelength Division Multiplexing and pumping in sectionalization method, ASE and feedback were greatly suppressed. At repetition rate of 50kHz and pulse duration of 20ns, gain of amplified signal was 17.1dB with a high signal to noise ratio of 25dB. The whole system is a good choice for a preamplifier of high-power pulse amplification.
We present an improved design of a low-loss polarimetric sensor array, which was implemented by splicing stages of polarization maintaining fiber of equal length. The new design, which is based on a judicious choice of the coupling angles between consecutive segments, allows concatenating an increased number of stages compared with previous designs. We show that the system??s output signal power distribution...
This paper gives a review of acoustic and ultrasonic optical fiber sensors (OFSs). The review covers optical fiber sensing methods for detecting dynamic strain signals, including general sound and acoustic signals, high-frequency signals, i.e., ultrasonic/ultrasound, and other signals such as acoustic emissions, and impact induced dynamic strain. Several optical fiber sensing methods are included,...
