Taking active vibration control of large space structures as the research background, modal and transient analysis is developed in this paper with finite element model of the piezoelectric smart plate constructed. With mode strain and displacement response curve obtained, active vibration suppression for the smart plate system is achieved as comparison of the control performance with simulation and...
A nonlinear, field-circuit coupled finite element model of a current transformer (CT) is presented for simulation of transient conditions. Saturation of core was taken into account by using actual B-H curve of the core material. Some geometrical simplifications were used so that 2-D simulations could be performed with reasonable accuracy. The formulation was realized using commercially available software...
This paper refers to the teaching of electromagnetic structure of induction machine, of steady state characteristics and of dynamic and transient machine behaviors based on finite element models and analysis of simulation results. Magnetoharmonic and transient models are used to solve field-circuit, respectively field-circuit-rotating motion problems.
Summary form only given. The split-winding arrangement requires special short circuit design considerations. During short circuit conditions, there is a considerable distortion of the leakage field, which in turn produces high axial short circuit forces. This paper deals with the computation and analysis of electromagnetic forces in windings of split-winding transformers. A nonlinear-transient field-circuit...
Performance of fault current limiter demonstrators based on either a single coated conductor (CC) tape or CC assemblies tested in current limitation modus is reported. A primary goal of this work was to achieve a quick reaction of the fault current limiter (FCL) device, and to study possibilities to provide a reliable and controllable time performance of limiting devices. An improved homogeneity of...
This paper presents a time-stepping finite element model of a turbo-generator connected to infinite bus via a transformer with delta-star wiring, in which the core saturation, variation of speed and effect of AVR are taken into account. Using this model, various transient process are simulated including short-circuit fault occurrence near the transformer terminal or on the transmission line, clearance...
For heterogeneous materials assemblies, the thermal expansion mismatch between chip and substrate represents the most important bottleneck for ultra-fine pitch flip-chip bonding. Generally numerical stress analysis of flip chip ball grid array (BGA) package assemblies focus on the reliability of solders interconnects during thermal cycling. Here the purpose of our finite element modelling is to evaluate...
The thermal response of the GMR sensor during the ESD pulse is investigated using finite element model. The simulation compares the transient temperature rise in GMR sensor when they are subjected to the Human Body Model (HBM) and Charged-Device Model (CDM) waveforms. The results indicate that the ESD threshold damage for GMR head depends on both the thermal time constant and the ESD transient current.
