Hintergrund
Die Myiasis beim Hund durch die Schraubenwurmfliege wird durch Cochliomyia hominivorax oder Chrysomya bezziana verursacht und wurde traditionell durch Verwendung von Ivermectin ‐allerdings abweichend von der Gebrauchsanweisung‐ behandelt. Die larvizide Wirkung von Nitenpyram und Spinosad/Milbemycin ist ebenfalls beschrieben worden, aber es gibt keine Berichte, die die Wirksamkeit der Isoxazoline wie Afoxolaner beschreiben.
Ziele
Eine Evaluierung und ein Vergleich der Wirksamkeit von Spinosad, Spinosad/Milbemycin, Milbemycin, Nitenpyram und Afoxolaner für die Behandlung der Schraubenwurmfliegen‐Myiasis beim Hund.
Tiere
Vierzig Hunde in Privatbesitz, die einen natürlichen Befall zeigten.
Methoden
Die Fälle wurden zufällig in fünf Gruppen von je acht Hunden aufgeteilt, von denen eine jede ein Insektizid in einer Dosierung, wie sie vom Hersteller empfohlen worden war, erhielt. Jeder Fall wurde stündlich 7 Stunden lang evaluiert und dann nochmals 24h nach der Behandlung. Die Bewertung mit 0 (keine sichtbare Wirkung), 0,5 (teilweise Abtötung) oder 1 (völlige Abtötung und Vernichtung) wurde bei jeder Untersuchung festgehalten und zwischen den Gruppen verglichen. Die Zeit, bis alle Larven völlig abgetötet waren, wurde für jeden Hund festgehalten und zwischen den Behandlungsgruppen verglichen.
Ergebnisse
Nitenpyram tötete 6h nach Verabreichung alle Larven und Spinosad/Milbemycin nach 7h. In den Gruppen, die Afoxolaner oder Spinosad erhielten, wurden alle Larven innerhalb von 24 h abgetötet. Bei jenen, die Milbemycin erhielten, waren zwei Fälle nach 24h noch immer von lebenden Larven befallen. Shi Tzs und ihre Mischlinge waren am häufigsten betroffen.
Schlussfolgerung
Spinosad/Milbemycin oder Nitenpyram scheinen die wirksamsten Medikamente für die Behandlung der Schraubenwurmfliegen‐Myiasis des Hundes zu sein. Afoxolaner und Milbemycin waren wirksam, zeigten aber eine langsamere larvizide Aktivität. Es wurde ein Synergismus zwischen Spinosad und Milbemycin beobachtet.
