Strain‐based approach for the fast determination of distortion for AM‐structures
The additive manufacturing of metallic structures has developed strongly in recent years and will be an important field of research in the future. With the different processes in additive manufacturing, Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is suitable for large‐volume metallic components. A variety of components has been successfully manufactured with this process. A challenge in the production of the structures is the control of the distortion. A temperature difference between existing structure and current welding pass is present depending on the molten material and a distortion of the structure is possible. A procedure in numerical simulation for a fast determination of the distortion with a strain‐based approach will be presented.
