We need to have systems to help people stay on track. It takes awareness, either our own or someone or something else helping us to see that people are going to get off the track. One needs fewer systems because GRIT inspires people to step up, not for the sake of reward, but out of authentic generosity‐a true passion for what they do. To keep on track means leaders have to be on track first. While it is important to be bold, vision statements need to be realistic. Meetings are necessary before projects, and at the end of projects. They are where we share the vision, roll out the plans, clarify expectations and desired results, and make sure we are all on track. Feedback and recognition are also critical to helping people stay on track.
