From the author's perspective, investing is not simply a fair coin‐toss where everyone has the same chance of winning or losing. There is no question that some people consistently outperform other players. Certain psychological characteristics of successful people obviously can be found in successful traders and portfolio managers. However, there is something unique about investing that requires some additional, seemingly incongruent, characteristics. This book attempts to take another cut at the issue of successful trading by looking across a range of skill sets that are component parts of the successful trader, including among other things a goal‐oriented strategy, risk management, creative thinking, and a capacity for collaboration and leadership.
