This chapter discusses how process mapping can be a valuable tool in control self‐assessment, re‐engineering, and training. Overview maps can be created to give the employee a sense of how his or her work fits in with the whole. Detailed maps can also be created at the task level to visually show individuals where the work comes from, what they need to do with it when they get it, and where it goes when they complete the task. The Process Mapping approach is more than just a method for making extensive flowcharts. It is a holistic approach to analysing a business, an entity, or a function.
