When developers create educational apps, how can they tap into the things that make mobile learning unique, that truly engage students, and take learning to a new level? This chapter discusses the hardware and software features that set mobile devices apart from other technologies. It discusses ways to responsibly utilize hardware like GPS, camera and video, gyroscope, and Wi‐Fi and 3G connectivity. The ability to create content, accessibility, security, and integration with other apps are discussed as software features for developers to utilize. Another exciting defining feature of mobile technology is its ability to add functionality through the use of accessories. Things like Apple TV, iBeacons, and wearable technologies present the potential to take mobile technology even farther.
