Novel compact band‐pass filters and diplexer using microstrip ring resonator with parallel‐coupled feed are presented. Overall size reductions depend on the amount of meandering used and 56% size reduction is achieved. The proposed filters and diplexer are designed and tested. The experimental and simulation results are presented to validate the argument. Good agreement between simulated and measured result is observed. The filters and diplexer are relatively easy to manufacture and are very suitable for broadband communication systems where size and weight minimization are essential. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
