La Covid‐19 nos ha llevado a un cambio hacia la terapia en línea. Este artículo se centra en las experiencias de los terapeutas al tener que pasar a la modalidad online la práctica sistémica con las familias. Están representados una variedad de servicios del Reino Unido, incluidos los servicios comunitarios, para pacientes hospitalizados, para adultos y para niños. Se utiliza una teoría de la construcción social, la Gestión Coordinada del Significado (CMM por sus siglas en inglés), para comprender la terapia familiar y sistémica online. El nuevo contexto de la terapia online influyó en todos los demás niveles del encuentro terapéutico, incluido el contenido y la estructura de las sesiones, la relación terapéutica, la identidad de los terapeutas y la cultura de la terapia. La relación entre "hacer" la terapia en línea y reflexionar sobre la práctica ha sido fundamental para co‐construir nuevas formas de interactuar. Hubo muchas similitudes entre los servicios y donde hubo diferencias, estas fueron específicas del cliente y del contexto. A medida que surgieron mejores formas de participación, los terapeutas adquirieron más confianza, la creatividad en la terapia aumentó y las actitudes sobre la terapia online se volvieron más positivas.
