This chapter challenges the traditional business intelligence approaches to building dashboards by seeking to leverage analytic insights to create actionable dashboards that empower frontline employees, guide channel partners, and influence customer behaviors. It reviews an example of an unintelligent user experience and highlights the importance of thinking differently with respect to creating an actionable dashboard versus building a traditional business intelligence dashboard. Big data can transform the business by enabling a completely new user experience (UEX) built around insight and recommendations versus just traditional business intelligence charts and tables. The chapter also reviews a sample actionable dashboard targeting frontline store managers and discusses another sample actionable dashboard (financial advisor dashboard) targeting business‐to‐business channel partners. This financial advisor dashboard covers four different areas for delivering client‐specific financial recommendations such as financial contributions, spending analysis, asset allocation and other financial investments.
