The Front Cover shows a complex of a gadolinium (Gd) ion with a diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) ligand in water. In the background, the ion, ligand, counterions and water molecules are shown prior to complexation. In this work, the structures of Gd‐DTPA complexes at varying protonation state in aqueous solution are resolved with a combination of molecular dynamics simulations and extended X‐ray absorption fine structure measurements. The findings provide atomic‐level details into the Gd‐DTPA complex coordination structure as the DTPA ligand gradually detaches from the Gd ion as carboxylate and amine functional groups become protonated.
