La non‐réponse est un phénomène fréquent dans le cadre d’études empiriques. Lorsque les valeurs manquantes ne le sont pas au hasard (MNAR), il peut être ardu de proposer une inférence basée sur les valeurs observées. L'analyse de données MNAR requiert deux hypothèses de modélisation : la première pour la variable réponse, l'autre pour la propension à répondre. Spécifier correctement ces deux modèles relève du défi, d'autant plus qu'il est difficile de les évaluer à partir des valeurs observées. Les auteurs proposent une méthode de vraisemblance semi‐paramétrique pour les données MNAR en ce sens qu'un modèle paramétrique est utilisé pour la propension à répondre, mais la variable réponse est traitée de façon non paramétrique. Les auteurs montrent que l'analyse qui en résulte s'avère plus robuste qu'une approche complètement paramétrique.
