This chapter presents field test results of an 110 kV cross‐bonded cable, a 275 kV tunnel‐installed cable, a 400 kV cross‐bonded cable underneath a bridge, a 275 kV PT cable, and an overhead 500 kV gas‐insulated cable. EMTP simulations are carried out, and are compared with the field test results. Surge characteristics and the effect of various parameters are investigated based on the field test and simulation results. Simulation results by various cable models prepared in the EMTP are discussed. Also, induced surge to a control cable in a substation from the overhead gas‐insulated bus are also explained.
