This cover by Victoria Padilla‐Gainza and colleagues displays centrifugally spun poly(D,L‐lactic acid)(PDLLA) fibers exhibiting an interesting morphological characteristic; a rough surface along the entire fiber structure showing a contrasting morphology between the core and its surface. Through a thermally induced phase separation mechanism, polymer‐rich and solvent‐rich domains are transformed into the fiber matrix (core) and the surface small cavities, respectively. Optimization of PDLLA sub‐micron fiber fabrication through the centrifugal spinning technique, known as Forcespinning®, lays the groundwork for scaling up the process and serves as a platform to further develop promising applications of PDLLA nonwoven mats, particularly in the biomedical area such as in scaffolds for tissue engineering.
