Questo articolo analizza la natura sperimentale degli spazi alternativi e l'esperienza affettiva, emotiva e corporale generata dalla loro creazione. In tal modo, l'articolo concentra la sua analisi sulla comunità intenzionale di Damanhur (Italia), considerata un esempio di spazio sperimentale. La letteratura sulle comunità intenzionali si basa su studi utopici che considerano tali comunità come dei laboratori utopici. Più recentemente, approcci Non‐Rappresentativi hanno enfatizzato la natura processuale delle utopie, trascurando tuttavia la natura sperimentale di questi spazi alternativi. Sulla base di un approfondito studio etnografico, questo articolo riflette sul alcune sperimentazioni che si sono svolte nella comunità di Damanhur coinvolgendo residenti e visitatori. L'articolo dimostra come la realizzazione utopica sia sperimentale e, quindi, disordinata, destabilizzante e creativa. Si sostiene inoltre che le sperimentazioni non si limitino a destabilizzare la struttura sociale della comunità, e che, quando si studia la creazione di spazi alternativi, attenzione sarebbe necessaria anche sulla capacità di questi spazi di influenzare l'individuo.
