Abstract. The charge form factor of the pion is calculated for the momentum transfer range of the Jefferson Lab experiments. The approach is based on the instant form of the relativistic Hamiltonian dynamics. It is shown that the form-factor dependence on the choice of the model for the quark wave function in the pion is weak, while the dependence on the constituent-quark mass is rather significant. It is possible to estimate the mass of the constituent quark and the sum of the anomalous magnetic moments of the u- and -quarks from the JLab experiments.
