For testing of beam transport systems, elaboration of standard data sets, and tuning procedures during accelerator experiments an interactive program has been developed.
The structure of beam transport sections, which have to be studied, are built up automatically by a read-out of data bases representing the accelerator structure.
In on-line mode the calculation of beam envelopes is always based on measured emittances and quadrupole currents. Therefore, consequences of manipulations on beam transport elements or even the usefulness of various models for the mathematical description of quadrupoles are discernible immediately for the accelerator physicist. In order to check the envelope calculation, on-line measured beam profiles, slit positions and beam currents can be shown simultaneously on the same display.
In off-line mode the program offers various features and options for envelope calculation and optimization, which will be described in detail.
