Discussion within a multidisciplinary tumor board (MDT) is essential in the diagnosis and therapy of patients with metastatic colorectal carcinoma. In a consensus established with all the participating specialist boards, we were able to define the fundamental information required to adequately discuss these patients. In addition, essential specialists and potential additional participants who wanted to take part in the consensus were specified. Thereby, there is little to stand in the way of the standardization of treatment for the 5000 patients newly diagnosed with this very common malignancy in Austria each year.
