Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technique applies to genome sequencing, genome resequencing, transcriptome profiling (RNA-Seq) and epigenome characterization. In this study, we built valuable genetic off-line databases related to silk synthesis of wild silkworm B. mandarina, using comparative transcriptional studies between B. mandarina and the domestic silkworm, on the NGS platform. It contains 12,298 coding DNA sequence (CDS) showing differential expressed in the silk gland of B. mandarina and B. mori. The other database contains 31 CDS that are estimated to be specifically expressed in the silk gland of B. mandarina.
