A new compound was synthesized from 2-methyl-5-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid and 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde via two steps, including neutralization reaction and condensation reaction. It was analyzed by IR, MS, and NMR spectrum. The crystal structure has been determined by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. It crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1 with unit cell parameters: a = 7.240(3) Å, b = 11.289(5) Å, c = 14.134(6) Å, α = 87.750(15)°, β = 85.638(13)°, γ = 81.904(13)° and Z = 2. The asymmetric units consist of one C17H16NO8S− anion, one C4H8NH2+ cation, and one water molecule. The crystal structure is stabilized by the two kinds of offset π···π stacking and four kinds of intermolecular hydrogen bonding. These interactions extend the molecule structure to three dimensional frameworks.
Graphical Abstract
A new compound was examined by X-ray single crystal diffraction.
