Over the last two decades, the field of forensic radiology has increased in importance for routine forensic casework and research, leading to the formation of a working group on forensic radiology of the German Society of Legal Medicine in 2014. The working group’s initial goals were to establish an indications list as well as a status report on forensic radiology in the institutes of legal medicine in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. This article presents this status report in terms of diagnostic infrastructure, cooperation agreements, as well as commissioning and compensation modalities.
