Résumé
La phase aiguë de l’accident vasculaire cérébral ischémique est une urgence médicale. La thrombolyse intraveineuse et la prise en charge en unité neurovasculaire ont fait la preuve de leur efficacité. Peu de sujets âgés cependant bénéficient de la thrombolyse dans les trois heures, et le traitement général est au premier plan dans cette population. Dès les premières heures, le traitement a pour but de prévenir les récidives précoces, de prévenir et traiter les complications neurologiques et générales grâce à la mobilisation d’une équipe multidisciplinaire. Ce type de prise en charge permet de diminuer la mortalité, le handicap fonctionnel et l’institutionnalisation.
