For the abdominal surgeon, few situations pose greater potential difficulties than reoperative pelvic surgery. These challenges range from the surprisingly (relatively) easy, for example, refixation of recurrent rectal prolapse, to the nearly impossible, such as the frozen pelvis with complex chronic sepsis from a leaked low rectal anastomosis.
