Soziale Kompetenz gilt als ein bedeutsamer Schutzfaktor zur Vermeidung delinquenten Verhaltens. Die Förderung sozialer Kompetenz ist deshalb ein wesentlicher Schwerpunkt bei der Behandlung straffälliger Jugendlicher, insbesondere im Rahmen des Sozialen Trainings. Anhand einer Längsschnittstudie von 15- bis 24-jährigen Insassen einer Jugendanstalt wird die Frage untersucht, inwieweit durch das Soziale Training die Legal- und Sozialbewährung gefördert wird. Mit Hilfe eines statistischen Parallelisierungsverfahrens (Propensity Score Matching) wurden 109 Teilnehmer des Sozialen Trainings einer Kontrollgruppe gegenübergestellt und nach der Entlassung aus der Haft hinsichtlich ihres Sozial- und Legalverhaltens miteinander verglichen. Die Ergebnisse der Studie relativieren die Bedeutung des Sozialen Trainings für die Legalbewährung und die gesellschaftliche Integration von Jugendlichen nach einer Jugendstrafe.
