Schreibkompetenz von Studierenden wird in Deutschland bei Studienantritt in der Regel als selbstverständlich vorhanden vorausgesetzt. Dass es entgegen dieser Annahme einen großen Bedarf an schreibspezifischer Förderung seitens der Studierenden gibt, spiegelt sich in der variantenreichen, z.T. im zweistelligen Auflagenbereich erscheinenden Ratgeberliteratur wider (z. B. Kruse, 2000). Lutz von Werder konstatiert in einem Interview, dass 20 Prozent der Studierenden keine Probleme mit dem Schreiben hätten, 60 Prozent würden sich trotz Problemen „so durchwurschteln“, was aber zu einer Verlängerung des Studiums führe – und 20 Prozent der Studierenden würden am Schreiben scheitern (Schreiber, n.d.). Die Verfasserin hat bereits im Rahmen der von ihr in Studienzeiten mehrfach geleiteten seminarbegleitenden Tutorien Erfahrungen mit schreibblockierten oder aufschiebenden Studierenden gesammelt. Zwar sollten in diesen Veranstaltungen vordergründig die Seminarinhalte aufbereitet und diskutiert werden – es stellte sich aber schnell heraus, dass die Studierenden (alle im Hauptstudium befindlich) einen starken Wunsch nach Unterstützung beim Überwinden von Schreibblockaden oder aufschiebendem Verhalten hatten.
