In this paper we describe a tool, based upon Data Mining techniques, which can be used to classify information contained on web pages and hence generate style sheets (or XML and XSL) for use in web page/site creation.
We show that by considering the information contained on a web page in terms of its position, nature, and type it was possible to classify the web sites investigated into ten classes. We also describe how, as a by-product of this work, we have produced a set of style sheets which can be used as a basis for web page/site design.
The implications of the use of the style sheets for web page/site design are discussed as well as the potential for the use of our tool in enabling companies and/or individuals to standardize their web site(s).
