Hintergrund
Eine Grundvoraussetzung für ein erfolgreiches Schmerzmanagement ist ein umfassendes Wissen über die moderne Schmerztherapie und dessen Umsetzung in den klinischen Alltag. Im Bereich der Pädiatrie ist bis dato unklar, wie der Wissensstand dieser Berufsgruppe ist. Erstmals für Deutschland wird in dieser Studie daher das Wissen von Gesundheits- und Kinderkrankenpfleger/-innen zum pädiatrischen Schmerzmanagement untersucht.
Methode
Das Wissen der Pflegenden wurde mit der deutschen Version des PNKAS-Sr2002 erfasst. Dieser Fragebogen wurde an insgesamt 310 Pflegenden im pädiatrischen Bereich verteilt. Die Rücklaufquote lag bei 51,3% (n=159). Einfaktorielle Varianzanalysen (ANOVA) wurden durchgeführt, um den Einfluss des Ausbildungsgrades und der Berufserfahrung auf das Wissen der Pflegenden zu untersuchen.
Ergebnisse
Im Durchschnitt beantworteten die Pflegenden 69,3% der Fragen korrekt. Pflegende mit 2-jähriger Fachweiterbildung bzw. Pflegende, die über eine Berufserfahrung zwischen 6 und 10 Jahren verfügen, wiesen das meiste Wissen auf. Unabhängig von der Berufserfahrung spielt der Ausbildungsgrad der Pflegenden eine besondere Rolle für das Wissen im Bereich der pädiatrischen Schmerztherapie.
Schlussfolgerung
Gesundheits- und Kinderkrankenpfleger/-innen müssen stärker im Bereich des pädiatrischen Schmerzmanagements aus- und fortgebildet werden, damit Kinder und Jugendliche das bestmögliche Schmerzmanagement erhalten.
