The supporting technology of web applications are mostly limited to static snapshots, but the structure and the content of the XML documents are constantly changing over time. After the introduction of the “temporal expression”, the temporal XML itself can record a series of traces of the XML document’s modifications. It provides a feasible and efficient method to the XML version management. On the other hand, because of the poor flexibility of “traditional relational model” and low scalability of “SQL Language”, it has not yet solved how to fully support temporal on the existing commercial database system. Compared to the traditional relational model, XML and XQuery can support the expression of temporal information and temporal queries in a better way. Whether XML data documents are needed to deal with a series of problems that are caused by the time-varying changes, or traditional temporal database is required to look for new opportunities in the commercialization process, the version management of XML documents and the temporal query of the content are becoming the next generation of web information system applications.
