Physical-chemical and mechanical properties of calcium phosphate coating formed by microarc oxidation method on the zirconium surface were investigated. Two types of electrolytes based on synthesized and biological hydroxyapatite (HA) were used to form the coatings. Deposition of the coating based on synthesized hydroxyapatite lead to an increase in functional properties of coatings (adhesion strength, Ca/P ratio) in comparison with the calcium phosphate coating deposited using biological hydroxyapatite. The x-ray phase analysis and TEM of coatings showed that the coatings have submicrocrystalline structure containing both stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric phases CaZr4(PO4)6, β-Ca2P2O7, β-CaP2O6, ZrP2O7, ZrO2, Zr3O1–x, and Zr.
