Kurzfassung
Der Beitrag diskutiert die bemerkenswerte Entwicklung, die Städteverbünde in der raumordnerischen Praxis der letzten Jahre vollzogen haben. Dabei wird insbesondere der Frage nachgegangen, welche Entwicklung dieses bereits Mitte der 1990er Jahre in Sachsen entwickelte und 1999 evaluierte Konzept seitdem genommen hat. Abgestellt wird auf insgesamt neun Fallbeispiele aus den Ländern Sachsen, Thüringen und Bayern, die Städteverbünde in ihr Zentrale-Orte-Konzept aufgenommen haben. Die wachsende Bedeutung der verbindlichen Regelung der Kooperationsfelder steht dabei im Mittelpunkt der überlegungen.
