The crushing strengths of brittle honeycombs with nonuniform cell-edge cross-section depend on relative density, cell-edge modulus of rupture and the distribution of solid between three cell edges and a vertex. The nonuniform cross-section is taken to be a Plateau border while the variability in the cell-edge modulus of rupture is accounted for by assuming that it follows a Weibull distribution. As a result, the cell-edge modulus of rupture and the crushing strength of brittle honeycombs with Plateau borders for a prescribed survival probability can be derived. Furthermore, the optimal value of 2, characterizing the distribution of solid in cell edges, for regular hexagonal honeycombs is obtained and found to be dependent on the relative density we specified. In addition, the effects of relative density, cell size, Weibull modulus, prescribed survival probability and 2 on the crushing strengths of brittle regular hexagonal honeycombs are discussed.
