In the article, “MALDI-TOF-MS Analysis of Bacterial Spores: Wet Heat-Treatment as a New Releasing Technique for Biomarkers and the Influence of Different Experimental Parameters and Microbiological Handling” which was published in the October 2004 issue, Vol. 15, no.10, pages 1444–1454, Pieter F. ter Steeg should have been included among the authors.
Pieter F. ter Steeg was taken ill at the time of the processing of the article, and was inadvertently dropped as one of the authors at the point of internal clearance. He was actually a major contributor to the paper as he came up with the idea to use the wet heat treatment as a new releasing technique on the spores. He was also the internal project leader, successfully acquiring EU-funds for the post-docs Verena Horneffer and Regina Notz (the first and fourth authors of the paper, respectively). The first page of the article (and the list of authors) should have been published as it is shown below. The authors apologize for the oversight.
