Hautneoplasien im Gesichtsbereich können das Leben – abhängig von ihrer genauen Lokalisation, der Größe, der Gewebsinfiltration und dem Ausmaß der Therapie – massiv erschweren und die Lebensqualität entscheidend senken. Neben einem entstellten Äußeren kommt es häufig primär zu einer Behinderung von sonst physiologischen Prozessen wie der Artikulation, dem Atmen und der Nahrungsaufnahme. Besonders bezüglich der sozialen Akzeptanz durch die Mitmenschen können sich hier schwerwiegende psychische Probleme ergeben. Das Ausmaß der Resektion und die jeweilige Prognose hängen maßgeblich von der Früherkennung und entsprechenden Therapie (prä)maligner Befunde ab. In diesem Artikel beschreiben wir daher wesentliche maligne Neoplasien der Gesichtshaut, ihre Therapie und anhand von Beispielen deren ästhetische und funktionelle Rekonstruktion im Gesichtsbereich, die dem Patienten nach gelungener Therapie nicht nur ein gesundes Äußeres, sondern auch ein möglichst beschwerdefreies Leben ermöglichen soll.
